surah al insyiqaq in english translation part one
surah al insyiqaq in english translation part two

In the Name of Allah the Merciful, the Compassionate

When the sky bursts open, obeying its Lord as it must, and when the earth is flattened out, and ejects ˹all˺ its contents1 and becomes empty, obeying its Lord as it must, ˹surely you will all be judged˺. O humanity! Indeed, you are labouring restlessly towards your Lord, and will ˹eventually˺ meet the consequences. As for those who are given their record in their right hand, they will have an easy reckoning, and will return to their people joyfully. And as for those who are given their record ˹in their left hand˺ from behind their backs, they will cry for ˹instant˺ destruction, and will burn in the blazing Fire. For they used to be prideful among their people, thinking they would never return ˹to Allah˺. Yes ˹they would˺! Surely their Lord has always been All-Seeing of them. So, I do swear by the twilight! And by the night and whatever it envelops! And by the moon when it waxes full! You will certainly pass from one state to another.1 So what is the matter with them that they do not believe, and when the Quran is recited to them, they do not bow down ˹in submission˺?1 In fact, the disbelievers persist in denial. But Allah knows best whatever they hide. So give them good news of a painful punishment. But those who believe and do good will have a never-ending reward.

What does “insyiqaq” mean?

The title word itself means “splitting” or “tearing apart,” hinting at the dramatic celestial event described in the surah. Imagine the sky cracking open, revealing a whole new reality beyond our earthly perception!

What happens on the Day of Judgement according to the surah?

Al-Insyiqaq paints a vivid picture of a day unlike any other. Stars fall, mountains crumble, and even the seas boil over. It’s a day of reckoning and transformation, where all secrets are laid bare and everyone faces the consequences of their deeds.

Are there any scientific connections in the surah?

Some scholars suggest that the descriptions of cosmic events in Al-Insyiqaq align with modern scientific theories about the Big Bang and the expansion of the universe. This adds another layer of wonder and contemplation to the surah’s message.

What are the practical lessons we can learn from Al-Insyiqaq?

The surah reminds us of the impermanence of this world and the inevitability of our ultimate return to Allah. It encourages us to live with purpose, prioritize good deeds, and prepare for the Day of Judgement not with fear, but with faith and hope.

How can I benefit from reciting and reflecting on Surah Al-Insyiqaq?

Regularly reciting and pondering over the surah can instill a sense of awe and humility in us. It can deepen our understanding of Allah’s power and wisdom, and motivate us to lead a righteous life that transcends the fleeting pleasures of this world.

Conclusion

Surah Al-Insyiqaq doesn’t just paint a picture of the sky splitting open. It cracks open our own hearts and minds, revealing the truth about this world and the one to come. It’s a wake-up call, a reminder that everything we see and touch is temporary. The real deal lies beyond the stars, and that’s where we’re all headed.

But don’t let that scare you! Al-Insyiqaq isn’t just about cosmic doom and gloom. It’s also a message of hope. A promise that even when the heavens crack and the mountains crumble, Allah will be there. He’ll be waiting for us, ready to judge us fairly and reward us for our good deeds.

So, the next time you look up at the night sky, remember Al-Insyiqaq. Remember the shattering, the transformation, the ultimate return. And let it inspire you to live your best life, a life worthy of that grand finale beyond the stars.

Because even when the sky cracks open, one thing remains: Allah’s infinite mercy and the promise of a beautiful new beginning. ✨ May Allah give us an opportunity to recite this surah daily. You should also recite Surah Mutaffifin Rumi by clicking here. Must recite. Fe-Aman-Allah.
